SafePaws is an initiative dedicated to eradicating, preventing, and curing animal diseases while promoting responsible pet ownership across Iloilo City. We work hand-in-hand with local shelters to match pets with loving families based on lifestyle and temperament not just cute photos so every adoption lasts.

How the Lost & Found Process Works

When a found pet is reported, SafePaws holds the case for 1 week — the owner holding period — before the pet is transferred to the adoption dashboard. Here's the full journey:

Holding Period — 1-Week Policy

Every found pet has a 1-week owner reclaim window before being eligible for adoption. The clock starts from the date the animal was first reported to us.

1-Week Holding Rule

All found pets are held for 1 week to give owners a fair reclaim window. The countdown begins on the date the found report is submitted.

  • Days 1–2: Active owner search
  • Days 3–5: Continued holding
  • Day 6: Final owner-search reminder
  • Day 7: Transfer to adoption

Veterinary Assessment

Every found animal receives a vet check within 48 hours of intake: microchip scan, health screening, and temporary vaccination if needed.

SafePaws actively tries to find the rightful owner through multiple channels during the holding period.

Reclaim Requirements

To reclaim a found pet before Day 7, the owner must present valid identification and proof of ownership.

  • Valid government ID
  • Photo proof of ownership
  • Vet records (if available)
  • Reclaim fee: ₱200

All reports are taken seriously and forwarded to the proper authorities and animal welfare organizations. You may report anonymously. Do not put yourself in danger — if a situation is immediately life-threatening, call emergency services first.
